Who We Are

Hello I’m Chris A. Johnson

As the owner and operator of Woodfirst Sustainable, I saw my first Granburg Alaskan chainsaw mill in 1973 working in Felton California. I started working for Cliff short a renowned wood craftsman. Five years later I got my first opportunity to do production slab milling for myself, I got to do this because I was gifted a black walnut orchard which I sold table tops and gun stocks. To fast forward in December of 2003 I obtained Wood-Mizer LT40 remote accuset and this allowed me to work at a much faster pace. After 21 years I am known as an eco resource consultant assisting government agencies and hundreds of private land owners to develop a resource management plans, I offer job site logistics whether it’s one log or hundreds.
